Technologies

The flowchart below is an interactive tool that will help you learn about different ways to produce renewable energy. Follow these simple steps to learn more about renewable energy technologies.

Click on a type of energy to find out which renewable energy technology would give you that type of energy. For instance, if you want to produce electricity, click on the “electricity” box within the flowchart for more information regarding how to produce electricity using solar, wind, bioenergy or small hydro methods. You could also click on a renewable energy technology to find out which types of energy you can produce. For instance, if you are interested in an anaerobic digester, click on that box to determine how you can produce electricity, hot water or heat.

After you click on the chart, a table will appear below with links to the relevant web pages within the site. The links, and subsequent web pages, explain the types of renewable energy technologies available and how to go about working with them. For more in-depth explanations regarding each renewable energy technology, please see the menu on the left. Each heading features a wealth of background and introductory information.

Interactive Flowchart

Please note: The table will only list applications that can address the inquiry within a sole transformation, occasionally two.  For example: The table will outline a sole transformation from wind to electricity. It will not necessarily outline the transformation of wind to electricity to heat.

You may use the menu on the left or the search tool to seek out specific types of renewable energy technology.PDF
